Hecate Cordolium–Cthonia
NovSaturday177:00pm
The titan/goddess Hecate is among the most ancient of deities. As Cthonia, she is the Nightwalker Between Worlds. A guide into the underworld, she reminds us we have nothing to fear and that death is merely a gateway into the next life. This ritual will include a pathworking into the underworld. Attendees are asked to suspend their fear as they travel from the world of the living to that of the dead. On the other side we will be welcomed by our ancestors and encouraged to move forward in life through communion with the dark goddess. This cost is $10/person. Attendees are encouraged to bring a stone or crystal skull or some other item that for them represents ancestral connection. If you do not have these items, please join us regardless. Ritual conducted by Crone's Hollow psychics and traditional witches, Michael Ingleby and Austin Toney.

Hekate's Supper
NovFriday307:00pm
What a perfect ritual event for this time in our lives. Hekate is best known as Queen of Witches, but She also embraces many other attributes. Of all the God/esses, only Hekate was known to be a fair and impartial judge. As the Crone, Hekate symbolizes wisdom, understanding and protecting the tribe. Hekate remains calm, knowing that certain things in life must come to pass and there is little point in becoming hysterical. This inner illumination of consciousness; learning to roll with the punches and coming back to better things is the deep wisdom taught by the Dark Mother. On this night we will honor Hekate by having a potluck dinner in the sacred space of Roy's Room. After feasting, we will take a plate of food to be left at a crossroads in honor of Hekate, as Guardian of the Crossroads. The charge for this ritual will be $10 per person and your potluck offering.

Dark Moon Mystery: Elder Moon—Wisdom of the Ancients
DecFriday77:00pm
The elder tree is also considered a tree of wisdom. Celtic shamanism uses the elder tree to form the sacred hoop on which the shield of the shaman is strung, and fires of elderwood afforded dreams wherein the shaman could walk between the worlds and retrieve the wisdom of the ancestors. (This belief, that elder smoke produced visions, is probably the source of the prohibition against burning a fire of elderwood in the home hearth.) The Mighty Dead, wise ones of the ancient clans, were thought to take up residence in elder trees, whose branches then sighed their names when the wind blew. An Elder tree growing where no tree had been before, alone and separate from other trees, was probably a Witch enchanted, and such wood was never gathered. The Elder Moon represents Tradition, the Wisdom of the Ancestors. The Dark Elder Moon, particularly, is a time when we recall the names of those who have died and recognize and assess that which they have taught us. In the Moon it is also appropriate to recognize the Teachers of Wisdom we have had in our lives in the past, whether or not these people are actually dead. Craft people recognize at the waning of the year that all they have learned in the past year is based upon the wisdom and teachings of those who founded their Tradition, and on the lore and love of the teachers who have shared it with them. The details of the rite will be shared at orientation, so be certain to be on time. The usual donation of $10.00 may be paid at the counter in the store prior to orientation. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Return of the Holly King!
DecSaturday151:00pm
The Holly King is an archetypal version of Santa Claus, who is the last of the Wild Men. While many of the characteristics of the current “Santa” come from St. Nicholas, Norman Rockwell, Clement Moore’s “Night Before Christmas”, the art of Nash and the Coca-Cola campaigns of the last 100 years, Santa’s roots are much deeper. It is believed that the modern Santa archetype comes from Pagan gods like Odin, who would bound through the air on his eight legged horse, Sleipner, delivering gifts to children who left carrots for Sleipner in their shoes by the fireplace. These beliefs co-exist with the images of the Holly King, a jolly fat man in a long robe with a crown of greenery who celebrated the return of the Sun (return of the son) at the Winter Solstice. Crone’s Hollow is pleased to announce the arrival of our own Holly King for one afternoon December, just in time for Yule! On Saturday December 15, our white haired Holly King will be at the Hollow meeting with children to hear their Yule wishes and dreams. This Holly King is real bearded and speaks many different languages! Kids of all ages are welcome! If you would like photos, you are welcome to bring your own camera or cell phone to capture the moment. Stop by the Hollow to avoid the mall crowds; there is no charge to meet with the Holly King but donations to help cover the cost of space are gratefully accepted. Come see him....yule love it!

An Old Fashioned Yule Ritual and Cookie Potluck
DecSaturday157:00pm
This open-to-the-public and family friendly ritual is being presented by Rita and TaMara of Crone's Hollow. The Christmas/Yule tree has long been a symbol of the holiday season. Each year, people around the world cut down an evergreen tree and decorate it with lights and ornaments, but have you ever thought about how this tradition started? People started putting lights – candles to be more specific – on Christmas trees in the middle of the 17th century. These were attached to the end of tree branches with wax or pins and were adhered to the tree to represent shining stars. Please join us as we hold hands and create our own candle tree. We will honor the rite and the story of the birth of the King/return of the Son by singing Christmas carols. $10 per person is the suggested donation. Candles and wassail will be provided. Bring a dozen cookies to share if you'd like!

Asatru Yule Ritual and Feast
DecSaturday225:00pm
Come join us as we turn the wheel of the year to Yule. Beneath your Christmas trees, egg nog, and fat jolly guys in red suits lie the roots of one of the year’s more important Pagan festivals. Winter Solstice, The Long Night, or Yule (from the Norse Jul, which means “wheel”) is the time when many witches and Pagans gather with family and friends to eat good food, drink wassail, and say goodbye and hello to the sun as it hits its low point in the sky and starts its journey back. The phenomenon of waning sunlight is central to the Yule holiday. Each day, as the sun rises on the eastern horizon, it moves a couple degrees north or south. The closer to summer solstice, the further north the sun will rise and set; the closer to winter solstice, the further south. Interestingly, at the solstices, the sun will rise and set at the same degree three days in a row. A lot can happen in three days. For Pagans, this was the annual “reset button” for the sun, whose power was seen to wax and wane throughout the year. At winter solstice, the sun was thought to “die,” only to be “resurrected” three days later. In this class and celebration we will learn the Mythology of the season, the Yule altar, the roots of gift giving and the importance of feasting at this time. As well, we will finish with the grand celebration and ritual of Yule as we welcome back the light of the Sun. This class and celebration will be held on Saturday December 22 from 5:00 to 7pm at Crone's Hollow, 3834 Main St, South Salt Lake, UT 84115. $10 suggested donation, no one turned away for lack of funds. This is a pot luck event, bring your own drinks, **no alcohol please**. Paper plates and plastic utensils are supplied. We hope to see you there. Gothi Kelly Richan Gythia Bernadene Whitten
