Friendship makes the world go ’round, and the loss of a beloved friend leaves an ache that is deeply profound.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and respected community elder, Maureen Aisling Duffy Boose, who crossed beyond the veil on May 9 following illness and hospice care.
For many years, Aisling was a cherished and guiding presence within the Utah Pagan community. She walked many paths in service to the community through covens, festivals, handfastings, rituals, classes, gatherings, and sacred celebrations. A poet, spiritual practitioner, teacher, musician, and activist, she dedicated her life to building bridges between Pagan and interfaith communities throughout the Salt Lake Valley.
A virtue holder for Toteg/1734 Witchcraft, Aisling worked tirelessly to help establish and support Pagan Pride in Utah. She freely shared her knowledge of tarot, witchcraft, and the Artes with generations of Seekers, always encouraging others to find wisdom, strength, and spiritual purpose in their own paths.
Many in our community will remember her harp music echoing through Crone’s Hollow on our opening day in March of 2011. She was a camper beneath the stars, a drummer around the fire, a singer of sacred songs, and a steady foundation for many who were newly discovering the Craft and Pagan spirituality in Salt Lake City.
Among her many accomplishments, one of the dearest to her heart was her work with the Utah Pride Interfaith Coalition, where she advocated for inclusion, understanding, and compassion for all people.
Aisling is survived by her beloved wife of 29 years, Briana, a large and loving extended family, and an entire Pagan community that is better, stronger, and more loving because she walked among us.
A community ritual and gathering to honor Maureen’s life will be held at Crone’s Hollow on Saturday, June 13, from 12 PM to 3 PM.
All are welcome as we gather in love, remembrance, and gratitude for a life so beautifully lived.
